"Mount Airy Lions Club Medical Equipment Program"
The Mount Airy Lions Club maintains one of the largest hospital
equipment inventories in District 22W of Lions Clubs International.
We will loan out this equipment to those in need in our service
area. Our service area is all addresses in the zip code 21771.
Borrowing this equipment is always subject to the availability
of the inventory that we have on hand when you make your request.
The following items are owned by our club. Wheel chairs, walkers,
potty chairs, shower chairs, portable electric hospital beds
and a limited number of canes and crutches. In order to obtain
the equipment you wish to borrow, you must call our club's answering
service at 301-829-LION and leave your name and a daytime and/or
home phone number and the type of equipment you need. Our equipment
coordinators will contact you to arrange a date and time for
you to pick up the equipment. WE DO NOT DELIVER. Please remember,
we are all VOLUNTEERS and there may possibly be some lag time
from the time you call until you receive the equipment, so plan
ahead! "Youth Fishing Derby" which will be held on Saturday,
May 12, 2007, beginning at 8 A.M. and ending at 12 noon. Local
children to age 16 are allowed to fish in the pond at Prospect
Park with winners in several categories receiving grand prizes
and all participants receive a certificate of participation
and a small consolation prize. This contest is provided free
of charge by the Mt. Airy Lions Club to the children of the
Mt. Airy area. Children 11 years of age and under, must be accompanied
by an adult. Food and beverages are sold by the Mt. Airy Lions
Club. 62nd anniversary Lions Carnival - June 2 to June 7, 2008- located at the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company carnival grounds, Rt. 27 and Twin Arch Road. This is our largest fund raising event where all of our members who are able and many local volunteers come together to help us make the funds to run this club every year. It is usually one of the first carnivals of the year in our area and consequently has a very large attendance. The Lions club manages or operates most of the food booths at the carnival. Rides and amusements are provided by Rosedale Amusements. "Annual Halloween Parade" which is co-sponsored with the Mount Airy Jay-Cee's and involves a morning parade of children in their Halloween costumes usually held on the last Saturday in October. Children are judged in age groups by teams of Lions and Jay-Cees members and prizes and ribbons are awarded to all participant. "Christmas Food Baskets" is a long traditional program
where the club purchases one months supply of food for needy
families over the Christmas holidays. In addition annual contributions
are also given to three local food pantries for them to purchase
supplies. |
